Joann
Mary Helle, 77, of Colesburg died July 4, 2006, at the Edgewood
Convalescent Home of an extended illness. She was born September 2,
1928, at rural Colesburg where she grew up, the daughter of Ray and
Hilda (Bruggeman) Hogan. She was educated and graduated from Colesburg
High School. Joann was united in marriage to James Helle on October 17,
1950. They were married fifty-five years. To this union five children
were born. Joann was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church,
Colesburg. During her lifetime, along with being a full time homemaker
and a partner in their farming operation, she was also employed by
Ertls in Dyersville and Clayton County DHIA. Joann loved family
activities, especially time with her children, grandchildren and great
grandchildren. She also enjoyed golfing, crocheting, cards, traveling
with friends and Hawkeye parties. She is survived by her husband James
Helle of Colesburg, children, Barbara (Layton) Hansel of Greeley,
Sharon (Michael) Schmelzer of Garnavillo, Gordon (LouAnn) Helle of
Elkader, Sandy (Randy) Backes of Edgewood and Steve (Shelly) Helle, of
Colesburg; sixteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three
brothers, Vincent (Helen) Hogan of Luxemburg, Jack (Carolyn) Hogan of
Colesburg and Phil (Deanna) Hogan of New Vienna and a sister, Ellen
(Laverne) Domeyer of Petersburg.
Joann was preceded in death by her parents. |
